Deputies: Lutz Man Stole $8k in Tax Return Money
He now faces charges of identity theft, fraud and grand theft.
An 18-year-old Lutz man has been jailed on a number of charges connected to a September identity theft and fraud case.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place on Sept. 10 at 1:41 a.m.
Deputies say that’s when Quentin Cornelius Edward Moore of 15127 Deer Meadow Drive, entered the 2701 E. Fletcher Ave. Walmart and purchased $1,509.24 in Moneypak Cards. He then “willfully and without authorization fraudulently used the victim's personal identification to open a VISA Account Now Debit Card,” a sheriff’s office media release said. “The card was funded with Department of Treasury Tax Refund money totaling approximately $8,901.00.”
Moore was arrested today, Oct. 25, and was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail. He was charged with criminal use of personal identification, fraudulent use of a credit card and grant theft.
