'Gypsy' Theater Group Includes Performers of All Ages
Just who are the New Tampa Players, slated to perform in Lutz next month, and how can you get involved?
The New Tampa Players are bringing their production of Meet the American Girls to Lutz in April. But just who are the New Tampa Players?
"The New Tampa Players was founded in 2002," the show's director, Lydia Massias said. "We perform three to four shows a year, musicals and non-musicals. We generally do at least one multi-generational show a year."
The theater group has performed in and around the New Tampa Area at the Hunters Green and Tampa Palms Country Clubs, Benito Middle School, Grace Episcopal Church, Carrollwood Cultural Center and the UACC, she said.
"We are a gypsy theater group and are looking to find a permanent home in the near future," Massias said.
The New Tampa Players posts its auditions and productions on its website: www.newtampaplayers.org.
"Our next show will be The Sound of Music, which will be a summer production," Massias said. "Auditions are open to anyone and will be announced following the American Girl production. We also welcome off-stage and behind the scenes help."
