Thanksgiving Break: How to Occupy Lutz Kids

Need some ideas on what to do with the kids while Hillsborough schools are closed for the week?

Thanksgiving break is under way and there are still days to go until the turkey is cooked and the family fun begins.

If you’re stumped on what to do with the kids to occupy their time, here are a few no- and low-cost ideas in the Lutz area:

  • Visit the parks – Hillsborough County schools are closed, but the parks aren’t. Take a trip to one of the area’s parks or playgrounds for a day. From Nye and Lake parks in Lutz to Lettuce Lake Park and beyond, Hillsborough has some treasures well worth exploring.
  • Catch a matinee – Thanksgiving time is traditionally a great period for family friendly movies. Take in a matinee at one of the area’s theaters to kill a few hours. If you go in the early afternoon hours, the pricing is greatly reduced for both children and adults.
  • Check out Xtreme Adventures – This Lutz business has indoor laser tag and also offers bumper cars, an Xtreme jump and arcade games. It’s running specials throughout the holiday break. Check out its website for details.
  • Make some crafts at home – If you want to keep little hands busy, there are all kinds of holiday crafts they can create to decorate the dinner table for the feast! Just check out this story for details.
