What 3rd Party Candidate Would You Vote For?
If you couldn't vote for President Barack Obama or former Gov. Mitt Romney, would you cast your lot with Roseanne Barr? We want to hear from you, Tampa Bay!
Just because President Barack Obama and former Gov. Mitt Romney capture all the headlines doesn’t mean they’re the only candidates on the Nov. 6 ballot in the race for the White House.
In Florida, 10 other contenders have their names on ballot, each hoping for enough votes to win the state – or at least pull off a respectable showing. These candidates represent a number of third parties, each with their own distinct agendas.
Here’s a look at who else you’ll see on the Nov. 6 ballot:
- Thomas Robert Stevens, Objectivist Party
- Gary Johnson, Libertarian Party
- Virgil H. Goode Jr., Constitution Party
- Jill Stein, Green Party
- Andre Barnett, Reform Party
- Roseanne Barr, Peace and Freedom Party
- Tom Hoefling, American Independent Party
- Ross C. "Rocky" Anderson, Justice Party
- Stewart Alexander, Socialist Party USA
- Peta Lindsay, Party for Socialism and Liberation
Imagine, if you will, that Barack Obama and Mitt Romney pulled out of the race and you couldn't vote for them.
Would you cast your vote in favor of comedian Roseanne Barr? Maybe you'd throw your lot in with Gary Johnson. Perhaps you're already planning to go with a third-party nominee? Sound off by letting us know which third-party candidate you'd choose if the Republicans and Democrats weren't a factor on Nov. 6. Speak your mind in the comments section.

C'mon, Sharon..........compromise those principles.
Heck, thousands will vote for a man who actually admitted to voting against his principles.

At the 2:10 mark, Paul Ryan tells you exactly what it is like to be a politician.......opposed to a Statesman.
""This bill offends my principles, but I'm going to vote for this bill in order to preserve my principles." - Paul Ryan
Guess Ryan's dictionary is a little different than a truly principled person......but don't worry, if you don't like the Unprincipled choice on the Right, you can always waste your vote for the puppet on the Left.
At least Robyn and Sharon still have their integrity and stick to their principles, unlike the majority of Americans.
Take a listen to Gary Johnson's ad and tell me where the man is wrong....please....at least take 2 minutes to hear something different.

Way to go Sharon! Your vote belongs to you and only you. Reading folks who want to influence and guilt trip you is civicly shameful and offensive. Tell them to stop voting evil if it's alright & admissible to say to someone else, don't vote for the candidate you favor. BUT: vote for the one 'I' w/double capital 'I' favor. How condescending. if you happen to favor someone else. BTW, just the way this poll is written w/it's header: 'if you couldn't vote for A or B ...'
We all can vote for someone else than A or B, i.e. for anyone other than the 2 choices provided in the header who also happen to be the lesser evil [depending on one or the other major party].
The only way one can stop evil is stopping to vote for it.

Gary Johnson gets my vote either way. I'm 100% in agreement with Robyn, Sharon and Mr. Clemons (I'm a big fan sir!). If the majority of voting Americans spent half as much time reading and/or thinking for themselves as they do watching reality TV, we might be able to get a legitimate 3rd party candidate in office!
As it stands, the majority of our "news" media is so busy pandering to our basest impulses (for ratings) that it's rendered useless. Add to that the epidemic of laziness in the United States and what do you have left? You're stuck with a population that contributes less, takes more and costs the ever diminishing conscientious, working American their individual freedoms along with their money. Perhaps it's naive of me to even assume most people even watch televised reports or the debates at this point! There is more to the disintegration of our country's democratic foundation...but it's a lack of personal integrity and pride that chipped away at it over the last 200+ years. Why else would we continue to elect representatives who simply tell us what we want to hear instead of one that respects us and them self enough to tell the truth? Our republic has gone so far off the rails it might take a pandemic of social/political disgust to affect a lasting change...one that appears on a ballot. Until then, I will continue to vote my conscience, no matter the party. I'll just be buying more Tums too.

As long as the mentality is that voting Independent is wasted vote, the two rival gangs will continue to exert control over the country. If there's one thing Reps and Dems work together in, it's to keep 3rd parties out. See that list in the article? Are any of those candidates invited to the debates? Why do we think that is? Gary Johnson is getting my vote even though I don't totally agree with all of his policies. He was a governor of a battleground state, New Mexico and has first hand experience dealing with immigration, drug-trafficking and a host of other real-world problems that the two main candidates simply don't have.

No way am I wasting a vote on Obama or Romney! Neither represent me.
If we ever want real choice and change, we must support 3rd parties. It takes work and time to build these, especially as pointed out, the two rival gangs work together to shut them out. Out of the media, out of the debates, and off the ballot.
I will vote for Jill Stein of the Green Party. Check out their platform at gp.org. They represent me. No wasted vote there.

While I agree the question from S. Lenon is badly [very biaised] posit, nonetheless she's asking who would be one's pick as possible presidential candidate.
Is this what you mean, that Johnson would be your presidential pick as a second choice & place holder?

The truth is quite evident--and if you dig deep and try to listen to each other, both main points are correct, as they are not mutually exclusive.
1 - You can vote your conscience (defined in google as "an inner feeling or voice viewed as acting as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one's behavior") -- in other words, your personal guide to rightness or wrongness, which is broad. So, for one individual, the choice of voting for Gary Johnson, who is purported to be more libertarian & less establishment, may provide what that individual needs to "feel right". For someone like me, I believe that what is most important to my value system, to "feel right" is a) to remove Obama and his awful administration, and b) protect from more liberals on the Supreme Court and remove Obamacare, which is a very intensive and gigantic increase in govt control + funds that may lead to the financial destruction of the US (not unlike Medicare+SS, which is funded and not saved -- so it gets spent immediately rather than used to provide what is promised).
Also true --->
2 - If you vote for a 3rd party candidate (for whatever reason, or for example, it is agreeable with your value system), it absolutely will result in a resulting net +1 vote for the candidate that did not receive your vote. Most talk about Gary Johnson... but you must admit that this vote is a net +1 positive for Obama. Keeping Obama will result in a much, much harder path in 2016 to achieve your anti- establishment goal.

wow... conspiracy theory much. How about people who vote for a third party is doing what was initially thought of through the Constitution. If a third party gets 5% of the national vote, it gets national (government) funding for the next election. So maybe instead of looking at the short term, someone who wants real change is voting third party to see real change.
