April was elected to her second term on the Schoo Board (District 6 - countywide) in the November 2, 2010, General Election. She was elected School Board chair in November 2012. Sheis one of seven members responsible for making policy decisions andoverseeing a total budget of $2.7 billion for the 8th largest schooldistrict in the nation, which is also the county's largest employer with25,000 employees.She has been a member of the PTA, a classroom volunteer, andactive in her children's schools for many years.
