21st Century America - The Land of Smoke and Mirrors

Isn't it strange how we Americans can get so wrapped up and divided over the most trivial of issues, yet the sky could literally be falling around us and we just give it passing notice. My recent surfing of internet news sites has been quite discouraging as of late. If people two-thousand years from now were looking at what we were focused on, they would think our entire world view revolved around a royal baby from a nation that was once our oppressors and a teenager killed by someone of another race.

I want to dismiss the royal baby news as mundane garbage. How is a baby being born news? Thousands of babies are born every day and no one bats an eye.

I do not want to dismiss the Trayvon Martin news as it is both relevant and important. However, it seems like a part of a larger plan for the people holding the strings to keep us, the real people of America, the 99% if you will, from focusing on the real issues.

Right now, our country is engaged in a systematic killing of innocent people, many of whom are children, across the globe.

Here is a post from one of my other, shall we say "more candid" blogs.

"There are times when my own nation disgusts me. I see how ignorant and intolerant we are collectively and I want to puke. When I see flagrant hypocrisy in government, I grind my teeth but am not surprised. When I see that same flagrant or just blind hypocrisy within the "real" people of the United States, the 99%, I howl with frustration.

We are about to have a civil war over Trayvon Martin's death, yet we ignore the innocent children murdered by what can really be called an extension of our own hand.
...I know that's tough to swallow but bear with me.
Independent reports are coming out of Pakistan that put the death toll of innocent civilians at well over 100 and the death toll for children is somewhere in the 90's. Of course our benevolent government says those numbers are way off, claiming that the innocent child death toll is in single digits.

Does anyone besides me find that utterly unacceptable?
Who cares HOW MANY innocent children are killed in drone strikes?
We are fighting this never-ending war because our innocents were killed
...and that somehow gives us cause to murder innocents around the world with flying death robots?
Is there an acceptable number of innocent children dying that our government and by proxy ourselves are willing to accept?
In the name of what?
National security?
The War of Terror?
Let me tell you something that this War on Terror has become a war on liberty and there is no acceptable number of innocent children dying to further any of those aims.

Irreverend Al Sharpton wants to boycott Florida industry to protest the death of one innocent child. What does he say about his nation's POLICY of killing innocent children.
Where is your protest over drone strikes Mr. Sharpton? Or are you unaware or uncaring that you are indirectly responsible for the very thing you vilify.

I just can't take the hypocrisy right now!"

...and meanwhile Keystone XL is bulldozing American citizens' private property and having their way with our judicial system so that they can run a pipeline of the most crude and toxic sludge that can be found on the planet clear across our country.

Where is the push back?

Sure CREDO and other organizations are pushing back but it's not mainstream media attention like it should be. We are sitting here gawking at this baby, whom will never see any of the hardships we must all endure. Then we are jumping on bandwagons that divide us over issues that are in some cases completely manufactured by the powers that be.

These puppet masters have us all in a tiff over abortion rights, over gay marriage, over immigration and they have distracted us from the real issues - corporate personhood, environmental destruction and our murderous operations overseas.

Don't think I'm so calloused that I don't care about abortion rights or gay rights, I'm not. I just don't see either of them having a direct bearing on my life practically and morally.

I don't anticipate St. Peter at the gates asking me about my position on gay marriage. If gay people want to marry so what? How does that affect me personally?

I do see St. Peter bringing up that my country was responsible for sending all these children to him before their time. I see their faces behind the gates and I weep that I could not do more to stop my own country from killing them.

The other thing is, we as a nation are pretty well divided on gay marriage, abortion and immigration, I mean right down the middle. Thus the puppet masters or politrickans, if you will, want to keep the left from the right because they are terrified of the power we might wield together. We might just break this 150-year-old stranglehold the rival gangs, Rebloodicans and Democrips, have had on our what ought to be a citizen-led government.

They are terrified of what we might do united, so while they bicker and argue over what color the sky is, the rival gangs work steadfastly together to lock out any ideas or political parties that aren't their own.

Let's not get caught up in that.

I think we all can agree, Republican or Democrat, that killing innocent children in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Yemen is a bad thing and that we should stop immediately.

I think most of us don't trust Big Oil now that the Deepwater Horizon rig blew up killing 16 people and turning the Gulf of Mexico into a sewer. In case you haven't read about it, yet, another rig in the Gulf blew up this week. Remember BP telling us that would never happen again?

I've come to the point now where I believe anything coming out of a politrickan's or a big corporate exec's mouth is a flat out lie.

Obama opined so brilliantly in his re-election campaign that we, "took our eye off the ball" with regard to the Iraq fiasco. Obama's administration and the administration prior to Obama have specialized in taking our collective eyes off the ball. They have us focused on the ball sitting in the rain gutter on top of the roof. Yet, we are ignoring the stone ball hurdling toward our heads.

We've got to break this viscous cycle.
We've got to stand up for our greater good and not our ruling class' betterment.
We've got to stop niggling over asinine details and focus on the issues that unite us, not divide us.
We've got to reach across the aisle and stop calling each other names when we have dissenting opinions.
We are doing just what the men (and women) with the strings in their hands want us to do and we need to stop before they completely pull the rug from under us.
They've already pulled the wool over us.

Divide and conquer.

What's it gonna be America?

Are we going to let our petty differences divide us for the conquering or are we going to set aside those differences and take our country back?

Truly, it's up to us.
