LUTZ LITTLE LEAGUE RENAMED LUTZ BASEBALL

League changes its charter and affiliation from Little League to Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken Tampa, Florida – (November 27, 2013): Lutz-based Lutz Little League has been renamed to Lutz Baseball after changing its charter and affiliation from Little League to the Babe Ruth League, the fastest growing youth sports organization in North America. With this change, the new divisions will be Babe Ruth Baseball (www.baberuthleague.org/babe-ruth-baseball.aspx) and Cal Ripken Baseball (www.baberuthleague.org/cal-ripken-baseball.aspx).   “Our Board of Directors as well as our member families have voted and determined that the Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken divisions within the Babe Ruth League will provide Lutz Baseball with immediate and exciting opportunities alongside long term growth and sustainability,” explains Dave Crawford, President, Lutz Baseball. Among many new opportunities, playing within the Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken divisions will permit an expansive opportunity for post season play for all age groups, including Tee Ball, and will permit boundaries to be expanded so that many Lutz families will no longer be considered out-of-boundary. The Babe Ruth League serves over 1 million players across the country from ages 4-18 in Babe Ruth Baseball, Cal Ripken Baseball, and Babe Ruth Softball. Crawford added, “We’re excited about how much our kids will be able to learn at such a young age by using this organization’s model. And by having two distinct divisions we’ll now be able to send two teams to the All Stars each year. 

Cal Ripken Baseball will be for Lutz boys ages 4-12 and Babe Ruth Baseball will be for ages 13-18.  All changes are in place for the 2014 Spring Season ahead.
