Community Invited to a Rockin' Anniversary Celebration

The free concert at the old Lutz train depot will feature performances by Drinking Band with a Worship Problem.

The Bergeron family of Lutz have opened their home to all who wish to join them for the past 52 Fridays.

Now, they are celebrating the first anniversary of their home church with a free community event that will include live music, a bounce house and “some of the best barbeque around,” Elizabeth Bergeron said.

The event will kick off at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the old Lutz train depot with performances by Drinking Band with a Worship Problem, a contemporary Christian band “hell-bent” on changing the world. The group aims to bring people to Christianity that might not ever set foot in a traditional church otherwise, band member Adam Balic said in a previous interview.

The weekly home church services include performances by Worship Problem, as they're known for short, so this is an opportunity for people who have heard about the services and the band to come check it out in a public setting, Bergeron said.

"It's not like any church you've ever experienced," she said.

Bergeron said she is really looking forward to getting the community together in a setting that's more accomodating to a large crowd than her home. Strengthening life through community is what it's all about, she said.

Food and ice cream will be available from Whaley’s Blazin BBQ, and Philly Cream. Members of Tim’s Memorial Church, which also features the music of Worship Problem at its contemporary services, will be on site selling the band’s T-shirts and CDs.
