Lutz residents who love classical music don’t have to drive far to take in live performances thanks to the Carrollwood Cultural Center.
The 4537 Lowell Road venue has kicked off its Spring Classical Music Series with performances scheduled through April. A variety of artists – ranging from local pianists to world-renowned performers – are on the agenda.
Up next in the series is “if Music Be The Food,” set for Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. The admission to this show is one nonperishable food item to be donated to Tampa Bay Harvest. The concert is a collaborative effort between the cultural center and the University of South Florida’s School of Music.
“I think audiences who love classical music will really enjoy our line-up this Spring,” said center spokeswoman Adrienne Hutelmyer. “We have a really great mix of instrumental and vocal concerts coming to the center. Audiences will have the opportunity to see some out-of-town performers, like Steinway artist Robin Spielberg who resides in Pennsylvania, as well as some familiar faces who reside here in Tampa such as pianist Franz Mantini and vocalist Clint Shepard.
Spielberg’s upcoming performance has Hutlemyer especially excited.
“She will be performing her ‘Moonlight & Love Songs’ program at the Center on Feb. 15 at 8 p.m.,” Hutelmyer said. “I've listened to one of her CDs and she is amazing! I'm really looking forward to her performance. And it's no mistake that we scheduled a program titled ‘Moonlight & Love Songs’ around Valentine's Day.”
This show takes place Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $14 for center members, $18 for nonmembers and $16 for seniors 65 and over in advance. Day-of tickets are $16 for members, $20 for nonmembers and $18 for seniors.

Strings in the Spring

The third annual Strings In The Spring concert will feature Carrollwood resident and pianist Franz Mantini and special guest and violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti.
An Evening of Vocal Music
- When: Saturday, April 13 at 8 p.m.
- Advanced Tickets: $14 members / $18 non-members;/ $16 seniors (65+)
- Day-of-Show Tickets: $16 members / $20 non-members / $18 seniors (65+)
An Evening Of Vocal Music concert will feature some of USF’s most gifted voice students as they present from a repertoire of art songs and arias from opera and musical theatre. The performance will be directed by USF voice professor Kyoung Cho.
A Night at the Popera with Klassika
- When: Saturday, April 27 at 8 p.m.; Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m.
- Advanced Tickets: $15 members / $12 non-members / $13 seniors (65+)
- Day-of-Show Tickets: $17 members / $14 non-members / $15 seniors (65+)
The quartet Klassika combines the two genres of pop music and opera to form a harmonious blend of unique sound and style that is known as Popera or Classical Crossover. The quartet performs a stunning variety of styles while singing in English, Italian, Spanish and French. Klassika has four members: Jolanda Nel, Clint Shepard, Lisa King and Chris Romeo.
