Can You Name a Possum?

Barley the Awesome Possum is a local celebrity by all counts.

He’s been featured in videos. Has had his name in headlines. And, he’s even helped raise money for a good cause.

Now the resident “star” at East-West Animal Hospital in Lutz has a little shadow. Employees at the 1524 Land O’ Lakes Blvd. animal hospital came across a baby possum in need of a home and some special care not too long ago.

While the hope is to rehabilitate the little guy and return him to the wild, Dennis Costantino, the hospital’s spokesman, is trying to make sure he has a name before he goes.

To that end, Costantino has asked the hospital’s Facebook fans to suggest names. Right now, Opie and Hops (to go along with Barley) are in the running, but more ideas are being sought.
