Legos, Yoga and Dogs: The Best of Lutz Library's April Programs

Looking for free entertainment and information? Don't overlook the local library.

The best things in life are free, and that old adage certainly rings true when it comes to the Lutz Library.

We perused the facility’s calendar of events. Here’s what we consider to be the top five highlights for April.

  • Tail Waggin’ Tutors: This program brings together children and dogs, a union that's sure to melt most hearts. Here’s how it works: Children take turns reading to a certified therapy dog in order to become more confident in their reading and speaking skills. When: April 13 at 2 p.m.
  • Block Party!: “We provide the Legos – you provide the imagination!” this program reads. Children in grades K through 8 are invited to an evening of creativity using Lego building blocks. The theme is “Cities Around the World.” So what will your children build? Hong Kong? The Big Apple? When: April 15 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Chair yoga: Looking for a slow-movement, easy-going intro to the world of yoga? If so, this event may be just right for you. Lucky Cat Yoga instructors will conduct a half-hour session on chair yoga. Suitable for beginners and intermediate students. Wear comfortable clothing. When: April 17 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Lutz Area Breastfeeding Support Group: Breast is best, right? Breastfeeding is the most natural way to provide nutrition to your newborn but it can be more difficult than some moms realize. Attend this support group to share concerns and receive guidance from a Certified Lactation Counselor. When: April 19 at noon.
  • Chess Do It: Are you a budding Bobby Fischer? Attendees of all ages are invited to learn about and play this classic thinking man’s game. When: April 20 at 1 p.m.

The Lutz branch of the library is at 101 W. Lutz-Lake Fern Road. The phone number is 813-273-3652.
