Coming to Tampa - Jeffrey M. Smith, International best-selling author and filmmaker; Executive Director, Institute of Responsible Technology and leading spokesperson on the health dangers of GMOs

As the quest to label genetically engineered foods rolls on, we are pleased to welcome one of the leaders of the issue to Tampa.

Come out and hear Jeffrey M. Smith, International best-selling author and filmmaker; Executive Director, Institute of Responsible Technology and leading spokesperson on the health dangers of GMOs. He will be in Tampa for one night only, at the USF Oval Theatre.

"We are so honored to have Jeffrey come and speak. He is extremely knowledgeable about the health risks of GMOs and we are hoping to reach consumers that don't know about them, especially parents since children are especially vulnerable." Bev Baker, founder GMO-Free Tampa Bay tells us.

The leading consumer advocate promoting healthier non-GMO choices, Jeffrey Smith's meticulous research documents how biotech companies continue to mislead legislators and safety officials to put the health of society at risk and the environment in peril. His work expertly summarizes why the safety assessments conducted by the FDA and regulators worldwide teeter on a foundation of outdated science and false assumptions, and why genetically engineered foods must urgently become our nation's top food safety priority.

"Jeffrey Smith has been so instrumental in educating citizens about the issue of GMOs in our food supply, we are thrilled to have this opportunity to hear him speak in person at our university. Said Michelle Johnson, a USF student who is helping with the event.

Dessa Stone-Pividal of Wellness By Dessa, A Holistic Natural Approach to Well-Being says, "in order for people to have good health, we have to have clean, organic, non-gmo food.  We are talking about the survival of the human race.  The GMO issue affects everyone, because we all have to eat. It is not natural to insert genes from one species into another UNRELATED species and not expect detrimental affects to happen in our environment and the health of the human population.   As part of the classes I teach throughout the Tampa area, I always include an educational segment on the dangers of GMOs! I am so excited Mr. Smith is coming to Tampa.  This is such an important issue and Mr. Smith is the leading authority to educate the consumer on GMOs!"

Going Green Tampa, GMO-Free Tampa Bay, FARM & Wellness By Dessa are proud to be part of this event and we strongly encourage anyone who is concerned about their health to come hear what Jeffrey has to say.

The talk will take place on January 16, 2014 beginning at 6:30pm with local speakers on the GMO issue prior to Mr. Smith's talk at 7:30 p.m.  Oval Theater at Marshall Student Center, University of South Florida, 4202 E Fowler Ave, Tampa, FL 33620. The event is FREE and open to all, however USF does charge a $5.00 parking fee per car.
