Tampa Nonprofit Brings Community Market to University Area, Spurring Economic Activity

On Oct. 26, for the first time, the University Area Community Development Corporation (UACDC) will launch its open-air Community Market just outside of the community center, located at 14013 N. 22nd St., Tampa, FL 33613. The market will provide a venue for local groups, businesses and nonprofit organizations to interact with the community.

The market will be from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and will include vendors selling a mix of fresh produce, ready-made food, handmade goods and crafts, information about community services, games, prizes, music and entertainment. There will also be plenty of shaded areas to gather, playgrounds for children and ample parking.

“We are very excited to bring a community market to the area,” said UACDC Chief Financial Officer, Bill Seiter. “We believe it will provide an opportunity for our residents to attend a community market in their own backyard, draw visitors to the area and boost the local economy.”

The UACDC Community Market will be held every fourth Saturday of the month through the end of May, 2014. Market organizers hope it will help local entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses, while giving residents a fun and safe place to meet. Van Dyke Church will also be participating with games and prizes.

Selection of vendors for the market will be based on products, availability of space and the quality and demand of their goods or services. To become a vendor, please send an email with your information to market@uacdc.org or visit www.uacdc.org to print and fill out an application.
