Freedom High Girls Win, Will Play for State Championship

The dream postseason continues after tonight's big win.

Playing in their first ever post season, the Freedom High School Patriots will now play for the state championship.

The Freedom High Patriots beat Tallahassee Chiles in the 7A girls softball state semifinals 1-0 at the Vero Beach Sports Village tonight, May 8.

The game required extra innings after being scoreless through 7. Then, Ashley Wilson hit a walk-off home run in bottom of the eighth inning to give Freedom the 1-0 win over Chiles.

Freedom will play for the state championship on Thursday night against St. Thomas Aquinas, who needed extra innings as well to beat Harmony in the other semi-final game.

The game will be at 7 p.m., Thursday and will be broadcast in Lutz on the Brighthouse Sports Network for Brighthouse cable customers.
