Schools Open, Graduations Continue as Tropical Storm Andrea Approaches

Hillsborough County Public Schools are planning business as usual Thursday, June 6.

Hillsborough County school kids won’t get a day off courtesy of Tropical Storm Andrea.

That’s the latest word from Stephen Hegarty, spokesman for Hillsborough County Public Schools.

“No cancellations at this point,” wrote Hegarty in an email to Patch Wednesday evening, June 5. “We're monitoring the storm.”

Hegarty said high school graduation ceremonies scheduled to take place Thursday, June 6 are also expected to go on as planned.

“Some area districts have postponed or moved outdoor graduations,” he wrote. “Ours are all indoors. So no changes for us.”

The last day of school for Hillsborough public school kids is June 7.
