USF’s Skip Holtz Fired

The beleaguered coach is on his way out after three lackluster seasons. We'd like to hear your thoughts on the decision Lutz.

University of South Florida football fans wanted change and it looks like they’re going to get it.

Rather than a shift in strategy, however, they’re going to see a change in the Bulls’ head office. Coach Skip Holtz is out of a job after yesterday’s season finale, which ended with a 27-3 loss to Pittsburg, TBO.com is reporting.

Holtz had been with the Bulls for three seasons, none of which produced winning performances.

Earlier this week Holtz’s record with the Bulls had The Tampa Tribune speculating that change was in the air at USF. With an overall 16-21 record in Holtz’s three years at USF, it was clear something had to give.

Fans, it was reasoned, wanted to see an immediate change either on the sidelines or the scoreboard. Today’s announcement means that USF officials have decided to make the change on the sidelines in hopes of a scoreboard improvement soon.

While some wanted to see Holtz go, he was a popular figure in the area. Temple Terrace even recognized Holtz with a day in his honor.

Holtz’s contract had been extended to 2017. Now USF will likely have to pay a $2.5 million buyout in order to seek out a new coach.

What do you think Lutz? Is this the right move for USF or should Holtz been given another chance? Share your thoughts in the comments section.

USF will have to spend a lot of money to attract 5 star recruits , a big name coach might help but a strong performance on the field will be needed also.

The disappointing thing is that the team played as if they had no coaching. Some teams show improvement over the season; this team was going in the opposite direction the last 2 years.

Great Photo! Is that the setup we'll be supplying to first grade teachers nationwide? Is the NRARead More gonna chip in with a few mags? Some bullets? Body bags what ? If the black helicopters do come for you your little ak-47 + all the bullets you can afford on your little paycheck just ain't gonna do the trick. and just who are you gonna shoot at? Your kid or the one down the street that just joined the service a few days, weeks, months, or years ago? You know that kid , he's the one that wanted to Serve his country. Is he the one you want to shoot? Is she the one that scares you? Fact is you and me just don't need these kinds of vicious killing machines.

you anti-gunners are so full of never mind I am old enough to remember before there were over 40Read More thousand gun laws on the books and Americans didn't have the kind of problems that we have now not until the government got envolved did we start having all the crime that we have now. Question if the almost 40 thousand gun laws haven't made things better maybe it time to look some where else beside the government and the dumbing down of American youth. Yeah they got a degree in some sort of liberal art that was suppose to make a difference now we have a bunch of educated drug dealers but here's the stickler they just think their educated. the individual with the common sense is the one making the money and they weren't government educated with faux degrees.
