From Memorial Day parades to holiday fender benders, this live map shows delays and diversions on Lutz roads right now.
If you're on a mobile device, click here to view the map. When you're done getting gas and packing the car, check out the live results from MapQuest above to see what's standing between you and the start of your three-day weekend. Mapquest scans for parade routes, ongoing construction, block parties and traffic jams. If your route is green, you're good to go. If it's red, you may be headed into a line of rubbernecking fools. Good luck! Get the Lutz Patch newsletter delivered to your email.

This year was the first time the school district held the tasting fair off school premises. The annual food tasting event helps school nutritionists figure out which new menu items to add to school lunch. Students in grades three through 11 participated. "Having the right food items for all these kids is really important," said Mary Kate Harrison, general manager for Hillsborough County Schools student nutrition. During the food fair, students are …

The Lutz church has teamed up with others to provide assistance to those who were devastated by the May 20 storm that struck Moore, Okla.
Chances are most Lutz residents had never heard of Moore, Okla., before a 2-mile wide tornado struck the town on Monday, May 20. They’ve heard of it now, however, and many are reacting by trying to find ways to reach out and help those who lost everything in the deadly storm that claimed dozens of lives. The members of Grace Family Church, 5101 Van Dyke Road, are among those stepping forward to assist and they’ve made it easy for others to take part. Through the church’s website, congregation and community members alike can make donations to the Association of Related Churches’ Oklahoma Tornado Response. That association is working with churches in the area to provide help to those on the ground, according to its website. For more …

Cigar City Brewery has found a way to stand out as a unique brand in a diverse and fast growing craft beer market. Sponsored by Grape-Nuts.
About this sponsorship: In honor of the 60th anniversary of Sir Edmund Hillary’s historic ascent of Mount Everest, Patch and Grape-Nuts are teaming up to highlight those who inspire people around them to climb their own mountains. In just four years time, Joey Redner has gone from beer enthusiast and upstart brewer to an award winning craft brewer that will produce 25,000 barrels of ale in 2013. Son of the famous Mons Venus owner, Joe Redner, the 40-year old craft beer connoisseur has taken his sales and his connections with the beer community to the next level in recent months. Last March, he visited the nation's capital in an effort to lobby lawmakers for a tax cut for brewers that would save him around $100,000 this year, money that …
Hillsborough County library officials are saying the Bearss Avenue regional library will not reopen until after Saturday, May 25 at the earliest.
Lutz residents who prefer driving over to the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library to check out books and attend programs are going to have to wait another few days at least before the doors reopen for regular business. The 2902 W. Bearss Ave. library closed for emergency repairs following Tuesday’s heavy rainstorms. The inside of the library suffered some water damage and workers have been on the scene drying things out ever since. There’s “no word yet on how much damage was done or a cost estimate” for repairs, said Travis Abercrombie, the library system’s spokesman. Abercrombie did have some good news to pass along. “Initial reports are that no books were damaged.” As it stands now, Abercrombie said the library will remain closed through …
