Take a look back at one boy's mission to make sports accessible everyone.
Editor's note: This story originally ran in December 2012. We're putting the spotlight on it again to illustrate the accomplishments one person can make. A teen with a love for baseball wants the world to know that "everyone can play." Owen Sarwatka of Lutz founded Everyone Can Play!, a program for players with special needs, as a sophomore at Tampa Catholic in 2010. Now a senior at Academy at the Lakes in Land O' Lakes, Owen continues to work tirelessly toward the success of both his program as well as all of the athletes that participate in Everyone Can Play, mom and organization director Suzanne Sarwatka said. No need to cook dinner tonight! The Lutz Centennial Food Truck Rally kicks off at 5 p.m. with 10 food trucks. The event also will feature live music from Gaither and Steinbrenner High schools, a history display in the Lutz Community Center and vendors, according to the event posted on the Patch calendar. The community center is located at 101 1st Ave NE in Lutz. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Community Expo Event features businesses and nonprofit organizations from Lutz, Land O' Lakes and surrounding areas.

Lutz theater fans are in for a treat: The New Tampa Players will bring their production on Meet the American Girls to The Acting Studio in April. Meet the American Girls will take the audience through 3 historical eras, director Lydia Massias said. "The show is aimed at American Girls fans and would be acceptable for all ages," Massias said. "It is definitely a family friendly show. The cast includes young girls and boys, teenagers and adults." In the past, The Acting Studio, which features a "charming black box studio," has only used its theater to showcase the talents of its own students, Massias said.
