Lakeshore Villas to Shutter in August

The 12-acre facility has had trouble meeting federal regulations, according to reports.

The residents of Lakeshore Villas Health Care Center will need to find another place to live — and fast.

That’s because federal and state regulatory problems, plus the termination of Lakeshore’s Medicare and Medicaid funding, have brought about the closing of the facility. Lakeshore recently informed residents it will shutter on Aug. 13, according to WTSP.com.

Lakeshore Villas sits on a 12-acre campus off North Nebraska Avenue in Lutz.

According to WTSP.com, the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration in May declined to renew the facility’s license after “deficiencies” were found. After that, Medicare and Medicaid were lost.

The closure affects about 400 beds and more than 200 employees, according to reports. An assisted living facility will remain open at Lakeshore.
